Bradford BID appoints PR partners

A number of local business leaders have formed the Bradford BID Development Group, to investigate the possible creation of a Business Improvement District (BID) in Bradford.

A BID is a business-led and business funded body formed to improve a defined commercial area. Most are governed by a board made up of businesses who represent the BID area. This means that businesses would have a genuine voice and would decide and direct what they want for the city.

BIDs are considered to be the leading model of management & development of town & city centres, with almost 300 currently operating across the United Kingdom and it is anticipated that over £500,000 per year could be raised in Bradford to promote & add to the vitality of the city, thus increasing footfall and vibrancy across the entire city centre area.

Possible projects

The possible BID projects will emerge from the views of city centre businesses, which is why it is so important for you to complete the survey, although many suggestions have already been proposed, such as:

  • Making the city SAFER through additional partnerships, better CCTV and securing the prestigious Purple Flag status for managing the evening economy
  • Creating a CLEANER city via additional street washing, improving cleansing standards and removal of graffiti & flyposting
  • Working to make the city more ALIVE by a range of major new events, improving the appearance of vacant units and promoting incubation space to develop new businesses
  • Developing a better PROMOTED city through co-ordinated promotional campaigns, targeting ¬†visitor growth catchments and working with partners to market Bradford as a destination to a new regional and national audience

Any other ideas are being encouraged as part of the extensive ongoing consultation with businesses and a wide range of views will be taken forwards to create a proposed Business Plan for Bradford.

We also urge any business to contact us at any stage of this BID process to register your views, ask any questions or request a business visit.
