Better for Business
Bradford BID works hard to champion businesses and organisations across the city centre, representing their interests, lobbying on their behalf and backing projects to encourage inward investment.
It markets and promotes the city centre locally, regionally and nationally and helps drive trade through schemes such as the City Centre Gift Card and Bradford at Night. It also supports businesses directly through organising and facilitating training for managers and employees, communicating important information, arranging networking, providing business growth advice and support, helping to adopt and expand national accreditation schemes and celebrating and highlighting the successes and achievements of BID members.
A Positive Environment
The BID aims to create a positive environment for everyone who lives, works, visits, spends their leisure time and makes a living in and from the city centre.
It works to create a welcoming, safe and attractive place through schemes such as deep cleaning, graffiti removal, improving street furniture, providing hanging baskets and supporting greening and landscaping projects. It encourages eco-friendly initiatives and efforts to reduce energy usage and improve our carbon footprint. It works with partner agencies to help ensure the safety of all those who use the city centre at any time of day, reducing anti-social behaviour and helping to maintain our historically-low levels of crime.
A Vibrant Experience
One of the BID’s key objectives is to help make the city centre a thriving, vibrant and bustling place at all times of the day and evening, encouraging more people to spend time here, supporting custom and trade.
It aims to organise and support exciting events and activities which draw people in and help build and showcase a wide, diverse and multi-layered cultural offering, including street entertainment, public art and arts trails, major events and festivals, street dressing and celebrations targeted at specific economic sectors. The BID will also work directly with the City of Culture team to maximise opportunities in the lead up to, during and after 2025.
Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) operate by raising a small levy to pay for additional services to help boot the performance of participating businesses. This is a small percentage of Business Rateable Values which is defined in the Business Plan. All BIDs are goverened by legislation to ensure fairness and transparency.
We want everybody to share an ambitious vision for Bradford city centre. This BID has been designed to create a vibrant and thriving city centre that attracts increased footfall from both local people and visitors from elsewhere, so that all our businesses flourish and prosper. Whether people live or work in Bradford or are simply visiting, our goal is that they are motivated to stay for longer, spend more and return more frequently.
The key BID objectives have been drawn together as a result of the Second Term Survey and consultations with our members to devise the Second Term Business Plan. These key objectives are:
