The Bradford City Centre Gift Card, an initiative launched by the Bradford Business Improvement District (BID), has reached an impressive milestone, surpassing £185,000 in total sales. This achievement demonstrates the growing support from residents, visitors, and businesses alike, reinforcing the card’s role in boosting the local economy and promoting the vibrant offerings of Bradford’s city centre.
Since its launch in November 2021, the Bradford City Centre Gift Card has become a popular choice for shoppers and gift-givers, accepted at over 120 venues spanning retail, hospitality, and leisure. Every pound spent using the card stays within the local economy, directly supporting beloved high street chains and independent businesses such as Primark, Pizza Pieces, Wingstop, Blossoms, City of Culture, and many more.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate this £185,000 milestone,” said Jonny Noble, Chief Executive Bradford BID, “It’s a testament to the community’s commitment to shopping local and the incredible diversity of businesses that make Bradford city centre special. From enjoying a coffee at Lefteris to browsing books at Waterstones, staying overnight at The Victoria Hotel or seeing a show at the Alhambra, this card offers something for everyone while keeping money circulating in our city.”
Adding to the excitement, Bradford BID is introducing additional venues to pick up a convenient "load your own" option, allowing customers to top up their gift cards with amounts ranging from £5 to £500 directly. Starting this month, this feature will be available at The Midland Hotel, The Victoria Hotel, Leonardo Hotel, Tiffin Coffee Shop, and Waterstones. These pre-paid Mastercard-enabled cards offer ultimate flexibility—perfect for personal use or as thoughtful gifts with a 12-month validity from activation.
Nikki Chadburn, Bradford BID’s Business Communications Manager, commented: “The ‘load your own’ feature is a great development for the scheme, making it even easier for people to support local businesses on their terms. Whether you’re treating yourself or gifting to a friend or colleague this option ensures the card fits every occasion.”
The success of the gift card scheme continues to uplift Bradford’s economy. Participating businesses report increased footfall and new customers discovering their offerings.
“Being part of the Bradford City Centre Gift Card scheme has been fantastic for us,” said David Crossley, General Manager at The Midland Hotel. “We’ve welcomed guests using the card for hotel stays, dining, and drinks—bringing in new customers and boosting local spending. We’re also delighted to offer the ‘load your own’ cards, giving people even more flexibility to enjoy what Bradford has to offer.”
The gift card is a top choice for corporate rewards, staff incentives, and personal presents. It remains available for purchase online at www.bradfordgiftcard.com and at The Broadway, with the new "load your own" option enhancing its appeal at key city centre hotspots.
