One of Bradford’s most popular events is scheduled to head back to the city centre, with the Super Soapbox Challenge returning in May 2024.
Attracting over 30,000 visitors to the city over the last two years, the action packed event will take place on Bank Holiday weekend, on Sunday 5th May.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance will be the main charity partner, and Bradford BID (Business Improvement District) will again be the main sponsor of the event. However more business support is needed to guarantee the event can take place.
Jonny Noble, Bradford BID Chief Executive said: “The Bradford Super Soapbox Challenge has become a much loved annual spectacle, making a perfect day of free, fun family entertainment. The event provides a massive boost to the city centre businesses and attracts visitors to Bradford city centre who can experience all we have to offer.
We’re proud to be the main sponsor of the event again, and would love to see more businesses join us to help make this year’s event even bigger and better.”
The May event is expected to draw crowds of over 15,000 who will line the course which starts on Kirkgate, before heading down Bank Street and ending on Tyrell Street.
Andrew Pearson, Super Soapbox Challenge Event Director, said:
“We’re excited that this year’s Bradford Soapbox Challenge will have some new surprises added to the course for the carts to navigate and entertain the crowds! Whether you want to take part in a cart, or are interested in sponsorship, there’s lots of opportunities for businesses to get involved in this feel-good community event and have their brand showcased in front of 1000s of people.”
Ian Ward, Chair of Bradford BID adds:
“The Super Soapbox Challenge is the perfect opportunity for the Bradford business community to come together to help create a positive, welcoming celebration for local residents and visitors to the city. We’ve built a fantastic reputation over the last two years with a top quality event and look forward to making it a hat trick this year.”
Last year, 28 teams took part in the event and it’s hoped this year over 30 businesses and charities will enter a cart into the race.
